Mr. Atkinson is the Managing Principal of Paceline Investors, LLC, a San Francisco-based real estate investment and development firm focused on value-added and opportunistic investments, entitlement and developments in California, primarily the San Francisco Bay Area.
Prior to forming Paceline Investors, Mr. Atkinson co-founded Cannae Partners, LLC, a real estate investment firm focused on value-added commercial real estate investments. Cannae Partners had success investing in and repositioning value-added office buildings and re-leasing them to technology firms that desired new, creative office style improvements. One of their investments, 1019 Market Street in San Francisco, won the NAIOP Chapter’s 2015 Investment Transaction of the Year. Cannae’s institutional partners included J.P. Morgan Asset Management, Westport Capital Partners, TDA Investment Group and New York Life.
Prior to forming Cannae Partners, Mr. Atkinson was a Vice President of Gerrity International and helped to establish a joint venture investment with MSREF that grew into a $250 million development platform of fifteen development projects with 140 employees and nearly eight million square feet of Wal-Mart anchored shopping centers in mainland China.
Prior to his time in China, Mr. Atkinson worked in investment and development capacities for GMS Realty, LLC, a retail property investor/operator affiliated with Washington State Investment Board and Principal Financial Group, at Jones Lang LaSalle’s Capital Markets group in Los Angeles and for Trammell Crow Company. Comfortable with multiple asset types, Mr. Atkinson is most experienced with office, retail and mixed-use assets.
Mr. Atkinson received his M.B.A from the Haas School at U.C. Berkeley and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a B.A. degree in Urban Studies and Diplomatic History. In his free time, Mr. Atkinson enjoys his family, endurance sports and supporting charities sponsoring educational opportunities for today’s youth.

In 2015, Mr. English has successfully led the effort to secure entitlements for a business park in Petaluma, CA on behalf of New York Life and is advising Columbia Property Trust on the potential entitlement of a $95 million expansion of an office campus in East Palo Alto, CA.
Prior to Paceline Investors, Mr. English worked for RREEF/Deutsche Asset & Wealth Management, most recently heading the Value-add and Development Group’s West Coast activities. During Mark’s 9+ years with the company he oversaw over $1 billion in asset management and strategic transactions, of which approximately $460 million were multifamily and mixed-use assets, and another $135 million were retail assets. Some of Mr. English’s notable achievement include – the acquisition and joint venture formation with Lennar Multifamily of Parker Place, a $75 million multifamily development in Berkeley, CA, the successful entitlement effort to expand Manhattan Village Shopping Center in Manhattan Beach, CA, and managing the $35 million repositioning of Marina Marketplace in Marina del Rey, CA. In his role, Mr. English oversaw the construction of nearly $500 million in ground up and redevelopment design and construction. Mr. English also led the leasing and loan work out of three ground up construction projects during the 2008-2010 recession.
Mr. English received an MBA from Haas School of Business (UC Berkeley) with a concentration in real estate, and graduated from Boston College’s Honors Program majoring in Economics.
